We’re proud to be supporting The Swimathon Festival 2021! Taking place on 10-12 September, the Festival combines Swimathon with an open water equivalent, Open Water Swimathon – for the first time in history.
The festival is here to encourage swimmers of all ages and backgrounds to participate and fundraise in a way that suits them – be it indoor, outdoor, free, paid, virtual or live. It’s the truest celebration of swimming ever held in the UK.
What is Swimathon?
The Swimathon Festival will see swimmers take to the water for a distance challenge of their choosing whilst raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie and the Swimathon Foundation.
Swimathon is the UK’s biggest annual recreational swimming event and over 750,000 people have taken part since its formation in 1986, with a staggering £54 million having been raised to date for charitable causes. Open Water Swimathon was born in 2017, bringing the Swimathon concept to increasingly popular open water swimming for the first time. In 2019, over 1,500 participants took part, raising more than £80,000 for charity.
Open Water Swimathon 2021
Open Water Swimathon is back for 2021, taking place in stunning venues all across the UK. A range of distances are available, from 500m up to Triple 5k, with individual and team challenges. So, whether you’re dipping your toe into open water for the first time or are a seasoned outdoor swimmer, there’s something for you. You can take part in an organised session or at a time or place that suits you with MySwimathon, which includes a free entry option – it’s your swim, your way!
Where can I take part?
Open Water Swimathon takes place at a number of venues across the UK, including some of our own Beyond Swim accredited venues. We’ll be focusing on these each week in the weeks leading up to the festival.
