Debdale Outdoor Centre at 1073 Hyde Road in Gorton gives you access to water sports right on the edge of Manchester. The reservoir is the heart of everything here – the setting for our new open water swimming sessions and where you can learn sailing, windsurfing and paddling through RYA courses or just hire a paddleboard and get out on the water. We run RYA OnBoard sailing and windsurfing programmes, plus RYA Swim Safe sessions during summer. Whether you’re booking a taster session or working through club pathway qualifications, there’s something for beginners through to experienced sailors. Corporate packages are available if you’re after team-building activities, and we support local schools with outdoor education programmes. Under-16s need an adult with them, and we provide buoyancy aids and wetsuits so you can just turn up ready to try something different. This facility is part of a unique collection of community and elite facilities governed by Manchester Active, a not for profit organisation established and overseen by Manchester City Council.
